Born in 1950, American artist Jenny Holzer achieved international
recognition in the 80s for her series of 'truisms' - maxim-like texts
displayed on posters, LED signs and other advertising media.
Since then she has continued to produce pieces which, through a combination
of anonymous authority and unexpected location, confront and involve the
viewer in an often unsettling process of enforced interpretation.
