about this artist
Born in 1957 in China, Cai Guo Qiang (pronounced: sai gwo chang)
studied theatre design in his homeland before moving first to Tokyo, then New York, where he
has lived for the last 15 years.
One of the greatest of all Chinese contemporary artists, his celebrated work
comprises gunpowder 'drawings', firework interventions and powerful, large-scale
installation.
