Abstract art now: Germany

Kerstin Brätsch

abstract tendencies in art today: Kerstin Braetsch

Arguably one of the most exciting of Germany's emerging young artists, Brätsch is well known as the co-founder (with fellow German artist Adele Róder) of Das Institut, a fiendishly clever quasi-commercial 'import/export agency'.

Her painting utilises various techniques to create highly individual works which, while varying widely in style, consistently maintain an off-beat, maverick appearance.

Brätsch currently lives and works in both Hamburg and New York.
